Additional Information |
Adjunct Duties
I am currently the advisor for Club Soul. The club meets on Tuesdays and every other Thursday in the English Hall. Anyone up for dancing? :-) Also, I try to attend as many of my students' athletic events as possible, in addition to attending/chaperoning dances and other school activities such as the senior luau and graduation.
Academic Background
| UCI, BA in English Lit.;
Chapman University, Teaching Credential;
National University, Masters in Education |
Family
My husband (Mr. Futagaki) teaches P.E., Health, and Singles Living at Valley Vista High School. He is fortunate enough to be able to work with my mother, who is the Art teacher. Someone needs to keep an eye on him. :-)
Why did you become a teacher?
I became a teacher because I love to teach. I worked in the business world for five years before becoming a teacher. I hated everything about my job, except when I had to teach one of my co-workers how to use a new piece of equipment (I was the Telecom person). It was kind of a no brainer that I went back to school to work on my teaching credential, but I am apparently a slow learner, since it took five years for me to figure that one out. :-P
Years teaching?
This is my ninth year teaching at FVHS. I was also very fortunate to be able to student teach here under Jim Caforio, Christine Baron and Sherrie Render just prior to beginning to teach here full time.

Interests & Hobbies
Obviously, I enjoy reading and writing, I mean come on, I was an English major and am now an English teacher :). I also enjoy going out to museum and gallery showings, plays, recitals and movies. My husband I also enjoy traveling, going to the beach, and eating at really yummy restaurants.
Most memorable moment
Realizing that from this point forward, all of my students will have been born in the years after I graduated from high school. OUCH!!
